Free workshop offered for Public Safety personnel

This #SMASHINGtheSTIGMA and Responding to Serious Incidents session will give attendees the skills to recognize unhealthy mental and emotional behaviors in themselves and others.

"Attendees of this session presented by Rapid SOS and Stephens County 911 will leave with a better understanding of themselves and those in their world on a very different level and how to make positive changes in many areas to live a more purposeful personal and professional life," said a spokesman for Stephens County Emergency Management, which is hosting the event.

The day-long event will feature RapidSOS Community Engagement Manager Tracy Eldridge and include presentations regarding a 2015 officer-involved shooting and a 2014 courthouse shooting, with Lt. Matt Wurtz, Habersham County Sheriff's Office and Sgt. Richard Thompson, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office with Ginger Giese, Forsyth County 911.

All members of Public Safety are invited to attend the event, which will be held at North Georgia Technical College Currahee Campus, 8989 Highway 17, Toccoa. There is no cost, lunch is provided and there is a possibility of POST credit for the day. RSVP to https://learn.rapidsos.com/smashing-the-stigma/.
