The Toccoa Main Street Program is encouraging residents to contribute to the city's application for HGTV's Home Town Takeover. Tomorrow, Feb. 7, is the final day online nominations will be accepted.
"Main Street Toccoa would like to remind the community that HGTV’s Home Town Takeover is accepting nominations for the next city that will receive a makeover from the television network," Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton said. "Toccoa is eligible to participate, and if selected, the cast of Home Town Takeover will help to continue revitalization efforts in the
downtown and in homes in the community."
Applications for the show are supported by nominations submitted by citizens. To submit a nomination for Toccoa, visit https://hgtvhometowntakeover.com/ and write why Toccoa should be selected. You must submit at least one photo and one video with the nomination form in order for the nomination to help move Toccoa ahead of other cities that are applying for the program, Hamilton said.
"If you do not have a photo or video that you could use, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance," Hamilton added.
"Applicants should strive to highlight aspects of their town that make it special, fascinating, historic or unique — including distinctive features like vintage period architecture, special destinations or a classic main street," states Home Town Takeover hosts Ben and Erin Napier in a recent promotion for the show, which will air in 2021. "Citizens of the selected town can expect to witness the rehab of multiple individual family homes as well as the revitalization of public spaces —parks, local diners or restaurants and outdoor recreation areas."
According to the Home Town Takeover website, nominations could focus on a variety of aspects about Toccoa, including:
• A place that you think needs a makeover. i.e. a diner, coffee shop, home or playground.
• A tour around town—the places that need help and the people who love this town.
• Anywhere your town needs love and what you love about it.
Directions for nomination submissions, including acceptable file types for photos and videos, are displayed on the application website.
