Toccoa resident creates GoFundMe account to raise funds for those impacted by Monday's tornado

Derek Martin has launched a fundraiser to help those who lost their homes or suffered property damage in Monday's storm.

I am organizing this campaign to support the residents of Stephens, Franklin, Habersham and Banks County, Georgia who were affected by the violent storms that pummeled the Southeast early morning on 4/13/2020. Some of our residents lost everything they had and many sustained substantial damages to their homes, currently displacing them. Unfortunately many of these HARD WORKING people didn't have insurance, because it takes every dime they make to pay their bills," Martin said.

"I know times are hard right now, but it's even harder for some, and I am asking everyone to donate $5 if you can. Although if you can afford to donate more, it would truly be a blessing to these people. I will be distributing the money to families in need by way of gift cards, whether they need a Wal-Mart gift card to buy some groceries or another prepaid gift card to pay for a few nights at a hotel. Please pray that the Lord gives me guidance in doing this and helps

me distribute the money raised according to His Will. Thank you and God Bless."
