Rep. Tom Graves' son John critically injured during cycling race

Former District 9 Representative Tom Graves announced at 8 a.m. this morning. on Twitter than his son John - a member of Georgia Tech's cycling team, had been critically injured Sunday during the Calhoun Downtown Criterium cycling competition and airlifted to a trauma unit and remains under intensive care.

"He's a strong boy and is showing signs of responsiveness," Graves announced around 9:30 a.m. No further updates have been made available.

Tom Graves served as Georgia's 9th Congressional District Representative from June 8, 2010 to January 3, 2013. As a result of redistricting, he was reelected in 2012 to represent the new 14th Congressional District. The 9th district has been represented since 2013 by Republican Doug Collins
