Four adults were admitted to Stephens County Hospital late last night, May 19, after being found unconscious in room #108 at the Quality Inn on Stephens Circle in Toccoa. One individual was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on May 19, officers responded to a welfare check in room #108 at the Quality Inn located at 106 Stephens Circle in Toccoa in reference to a possible drug overdose,” Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize stated in a press release this afternoon. “Once officers made entry into the room, there were four unconscious adults located. EMS, Toccoa Fire and first responders were quickly on the scene and administered NARCAN to the victims.”
All four individuals were transported to Stephens County Hospital, where one of the individuals was pronounced dead. The remaining three are still under hospital care; no information is available on their condition.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the ARDEO Task Force, along with Toccoa Police Department investigators, are continuing the investigation into the incident, and evidence located a the scene is being processed by the GBI Crime Lab.
