The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife Resources Division is warning citizens about a fraudulent website claiming to offer Georgia fishing licenses.
"When entering “Georgia Fishing License” into a search engine, it results in the first link being an advertisement for www.georgiafishinglicense.online/. This fictitious site will allow you to enter your personal information (social security number, driver’s license, address, etc.) to receive a fishing license through the mail, but never asks for payment," advises DNR in a scam alert released today, Jan. 21
The Georgia DNR is in the process of having the website shutdown, but ask that residents notify the Law Enforcement Division - Georgia DNR's Investigative Unit at 770-918-6408 if you or anyone you know has provided your personal information on this site.
"We also encourage affected customers to file a police report with their local agency as well as monitoring/freezing their credit," DNR officials recommended.
The valid web address to purchase a hunting or fishing license is always www.gooutdoorsgeorgia.com
Photos are of the fraudulent website.
