Fraudulent fishing license website phishing for personal info, warns DNR

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife Resources Division is warning citizens about a fraudulent website claiming to offer Georgia fishing licenses.

"When entering “Georgia Fishing License” into a search engine, it results in the first link being an advertisement for This fictitious site will allow you to enter your personal information (social security number, driver’s license, address, etc.) to receive a fishing license through the mail, but never asks for payment," advises DNR in a scam alert released today, Jan. 21


The Georgia DNR is in the process of having the website shutdown, but ask that residents notify the Law Enforcement Division - Georgia DNR's Investigative Unit at 770-918-6408 if you or anyone you know has provided your personal information on this site.

"We also encourage affected customers to file a police report with their local agency as well as monitoring/freezing their credit," DNR officials recommended.
