COVID-19 testing ramps up in Georgia; Hospitalizations, fatalities remain level

Review of GDPH COVID-19 stats show a steep increase in testing, but rate of hospitalization and deaths do not show a corresponding rise.

An increase in the amount of tests conducted in Georgia will provide a more thorough picture of the extent of the spread of the virus in Georgia,

Previous screening criteria limited testing to those already judged to be sick, either by way of contact with a known virus carrier or through clear exhibition of symptoms. As the barriers for testing are lowered, and more people, with less certainty of exposure, are tested, the percentage of those who are tested but return negative results will increase.
