City of Toccoa Wins Georgia Chapter APWA Award


TOCCOA, GA – June 16, 2020 – The City of Toccoa is proud to announce that it received recognition from the Georgia Chapter of the American Public Works Association for the recent completion of the Pavilion and Boat House at Lake Toccoa.


On May 13, 2020, the Georgia Chapter of the American Public Works Association announced that the Pavilion and Boat House at Lake Toccoa have been awarded Project of the Year by the State of Georgia’s accredited public works agency.


These projects were completed to provide scenic public facilities that may be utilized for weddings, parties, meetings, gatherings, and more. The majority of the work was completed by the City of Toccoa’s Public Works Department in conjunction with several area contractors.


“We are incredibly proud of the work that has been completed up at Lake Toccoa,” said Mayor Terry Carter. “Its recognition by the Georgia Chapter of the American Public Works Association as Project of the Year solidifies our vision of Lake Toccoa being an invaluable resource for our community. We’d like to encourage local residents to come up and see all that is going on at Lake Toccoa this summer.”


The American Public Works Association serves professionals in all aspects of public works. With a worldwide membership more than 30,000 strong, this organization includes personnel from local, county, state, and federal agencies.
