2020 Currahee Youth Outdoor Day scheduled Feb. 29

Fishing, hunting, archery, snakes and more…

Throw in lunch, make it all free, and you’ve got the Currahee Youth Outdoors Day.

This annual event, sponsored by Currahee Friends of the NRA, features a raptor exhibition and an educational snake show with Steve Skruggs from the Hardigree Wildlife Sanctuary.

There will be a variety of stations where kids have the chance to learn and practice skills with bow and arrow, air guns, rifles and shotguns in a closely supervised and safe environment with knowledgable volunteers and mentors. An on-site pond stocked with trout and catfish is available for fishing for the kids.

Scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Wansley Farm, 1570 N. Clarks Creek Road in Martin, the day begins at 9 a.m. and usually lasts until around 3 p.m., according to event spokesperson Michael Mayo.
